How arts and culture impacts on young people's lives.

The CCE ‘Tell Us Bus’ completed its tour of England last week in its quest to discover just how arts and culture impact on the lives of children and young people.

The bus was on tour throughout July, stopping off at schools and festivals, youth centres and cultural hubs. We asked 7-19 year-olds about their experiences, hobbies and activities on board the full-size double-decker Tell Us Bus.

The Tell Us Bus will ensure that a wide range of young people’s voices, particularly those hard to reach young people, are heard, listened to and acted upon. All the films are being added to the www.tellustv.co.uk but is doesn’t stop there - we are asking young people to upload their own films over the summer so we can get as many young people’s opinions on arts and culture. Young people are being asked to film a video clip no longer than 90 seconds answering the question, "Why are culture and the arts important to you?".

To encourage entries, we are promoting a competition to youth settings such as youth clubs, after school clubs and youth centres. There are prizes of two sets of three HD pocket camcorders and two £50 Amazon vouchers to win - all prizes will be awarded to the youth setting represented.

For more information and for posters which can be downloaded to print and promote the competition, visit www.tellustv.co.uk/competitions

The results of the Tell Us Bus tour and website will be collated into a report prepared by young people, which will be announced in October 2010.
